Award Criteria
A panel of community leaders serving as judges will
make the final selection for each award. Each award
division requires the judges to score 5
criteria questions. The nomination is weighted by criteria question
with respect to the award division focus. Each judge privately scores
each criteria question which results in a final score. The following
are the questions and points per criteria questions.
Outstanding
Philanthropist
- Evidence of personal financial resources given in
support of projects in the community, nationally and/or
internationally. (0-30 points)
- Description of impact of gift support on above
projects. (0-20 points)
- Evidence of encouragement and motivation given others
to take leadership roles toward philanthropy and community involvement.
(0-20 points)
- Description of leadership in securing gifts from
others for support of nonprofit organizations in the community,
nationally, and/or internationally. (0-20 points)
- What else should the judging panel know about this
nominees qualifications for this award? (0-10 points)
Outstanding
Volunteer Fundraiser
- Evidence of quality of leadership and organizational
ability in fundraising campaigns. (0-25 points)
- Description of time, effort, and financial commitment
volunteered to philanthropic activities. (0-25 points)
- Description of fundraising goals achieved by his/her
effort. (0-15 points)
- Evidence of success in recruiting and motivating
others. (0-20 points)
- Description of participation in other local,
national, or international nonprofit organizations. (0-15 points)
Outstanding
Professional Fundraiser
- Description of career achievements: length and tenure
of fund raising background, experience, and results. (Recipient should
have at least five years of professional fund raising experience).
(0-25 points)
- Evidence of quality of leadership that is effective,
creative, and stimulating, and evidence that the individual acts as a
team player. (0-25 points)
- Evidence that the nominee practices and promotes
sound and ethical principles, following the AFP Code of Ethical
Principles & Standards of Professional Practice. (0-15 points)
- Description of individual's commitment to continuing
professional development, conference participation, publication and
professional education. (0-15 points)
- Evidence of commitment to this profession and to
philanthropy through voluntary service and support of other
professionals and nonprofit organizations. (0-20 points)

Small
Business
- Evidence of support of philanthropic projects in the
community, nationally and/or internationally. (0-25 points)
- Description of impact of gift support on above
projects. (0-25 points)
- Description of in-kind contributions to
charitable causes, such as loaned executives, marketing and advertising
support, and the impact of such contributions. (0-20 points)
- Evidence of encouragement and motivation given to
employees and others to take leadership roles in philanthropy and
community involvement. (0-20 points)
- Evidence of support for creative or innovative
approaches to community issues. (0-10 points)
Outstanding
Corporation
- Evidence of financial support of philanthropic
